Hi,
Welcome to Mill Creek nessled in the beautiful rolling hills of Pike County in southern Indiana. We are situated on 31/2 acres
close to Pike State Forest where wildlife abounds. Mill Creek is actually a creek that runs through the forest and right past our
property. My husband, Ron, and I were married on horseback in the forest with all the beautiful country side surrounding us in 1987.
I
have been involved in showing dogs since 1966 with Collies being my first breed. In 1972 I got into Golden Retrievers and during the
time I was in Goldens, two of the bitches that I had bred earned the great honor of going into the Hall of Fame. During this time
we had several other breeds which were 13 inch Beagles, a Springer Spaniel, a German Shorthair Pointer, a Labrador Retriever and a
couple of Samoyeds, as my children (there were three) were also involved in Jr. Showmanship.
During this time I did some handling
for other people on the side. I have always admired the Australian Shepherd but when I had the Goldens and was doing some handling
it was not to my advantage at that time to have a breed that was not AKC recognized. But in 1992 that all changed. After being out
of dogs completely for a couple of years I got my first Aussies.
At first I thought I could be content with just a pet, but after a
year I knew I wouldn't be content until I could get back into the show ring. So the first two show potential Aussie puppies I got
was through Heidi Gorchals"The Force" Aussies which went on to become Ch. Charnelle's Blue Shadow Dancer and Ch. MillCreek's Wingmaster.
Then I got a puppy bitch from Judith Frey, "Winterhawk" which became Ch.Winterhawk's Kiss Me Kate. My next three puppies came from
Flo McDaniel "McMatt" Aussies who later earned the titles of Ch. Shercrest Silhouette McMatt R.O.M., Ch. McMatt's Legend of Mill Creek
and AKC, ASCA & Intl. Ch. McMatt's Megapup of Mill Creek R.O.M.-CI.
Ch. Mill Creek's Makers Mark, whom we bred and I co-owned with
Joan Jones went on to become the #2 Australian Shepherd and #7 All Breed in the country for 2003. This endeavor of being in Aussies
has taken me much further than I had ever dreamed and I would like to thank all those who have taken part in it.
Then in 2007
I got my first Swedish Vallhund from Yvonne Slusser (Pavon) who became Ch. Pavon Mill Creek's Chyna. In the summer of 2008 I acquired
my second Vall from Lori Schaunaman (Minikota) who became Ch. Minikota Mill Creek's October Rust, at the tender age of 10 months.
Toby is also the #1 Swedish Vallhund and the #3 All Breed as of April 2009 issue of the Canine Chronicle. I can never thank everyone
enough!!!
